Best laptops for engineering students under ₹50,000 in India (2026)
For engineering coursework you need four things: a Ryzen 5 7000-series or Intel 13th-gen i5 (or newer), 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD and a Full HD IPS screen. You don't need a gaming GPU unless you do ML, heavy CAD or gaming.

FAQs
Is 8GB RAM enough for an engineering laptop?
Not really in 2026. Pick 16GB, or 8GB only if a free slot lets you add another 8GB stick later.
Do engineering students need a graphics card?
Only for ML coursework, heavy CAD or gaming. For most branches a ₹45–48K laptop without a discrete GPU is fine.
Which processor should I pick under ₹50,000?
AMD Ryzen 5 7000-series or Intel Core i5 13th-gen or newer. Avoid 11th-gen Intel or older.
Is 256GB SSD enough?
No. IDEs, MATLAB and dual-boot Linux can fill 256GB by second year. Get 512GB.
